A fundamental goal of K-12 public education is to develop lifelong learners who use their minds and skills well. The four components of Everett's Culminating Exhibition move students through challenging academic activities that develop and demonstrate their readiness to take responsibility for their own learning.
As they prepare to leave the K-12 public system, students are asked to completea Reflective Letter, and a Self-Directed Project. Following completion of this work, students address a panel in a Culminating Presentation, sharing key elements of what they have learned from their academic work and how they plan to take responsibility for their future learning.
The Everett Public Schools' Culminating Exhibition has been designed to allow students to demonstrate the skills stated in Washington State Learning Goals 3 & 4 which include the ability to:
-
Think logically and analytically
-
Form reasoned judgments and solve problems
-
Reflect and self-evaluate
-
Direct own learning
-
Synthesize ideas to show readiness to take responsibility for their own learning
