Wow! What a great set of evening events at Cascade, Everett and H.M. Jackson high schools. For the second year, the Everett Public Schools Foundation was the signature sponsor to help put on three nights of college and career exploration for all of our students and their families this October. Each event featured guest speaker Derek Greenfield, current Director of Diversity and Equity Engagement/Assistant Professor of Sociaology at Alcorn State University and renowned motivational speaker. Derek had the crowd going at each event, successfully engaging every person in the room with the important message that college is a possibility, and that "Today is the first day of the rest of your life". In addition, Derek was able to spend time in each of the schools talking to our students about life, college and their future. It was estimated that over 3,000 parents and students participated in these evening events with more than 40 colleges and post-high school institutuions represented.

Emma Yule was a bright and courageous young woman who served as Everett's first and only teacher in December 1891. In honor of her tradition of excellence, the Everett Public Schools Foundation created the Emma Yule Society. It provides many opportunities for sponsors, businesses, community leaders and individuals to invest in our area's most important resources...our children and the educators who inspire them. This year are opportunities to personalize your gift through classroom grant recognition. Visit Emma Yule Society and learn more about these opportunities. |
