Welcome to Evergreen Middle School, a place where the students shine.

Our strong community ties are at the core of what makes us a great school and a strong family. There is not a day of the week that Evergreen is not buzzing with activity, whether it be the regular school day, the churches that use our building on weekends, the voter's forums held here in the evenings, basketball tournaments, music festivals or banquets... our building is more than a place of learning, it is a hub of our vibrant community. From the grandparents, parents, and children of Evergreen, to our amazing staff, to the volunteers like our enormously professional PTA members who work tirelessly behind the scenes, at Evergreen we like to feel we are part of something special and enduring.

And that endurance is paying off. Guests merely need to walk in the door and they can instantly see that our students are well behaved, our extra curricular activities thrive, and the clear message throughout the building is that this is a place for one thing and one thing only: learning. These are just some of the reasons why Evergreen was one of only 20 middle schools in the state named as a School of Distinction in 2007 by OSPI (Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction).

One of our major focuses each academic year is assessing and intervening to serve the individual needs of our students. While that is a huge task in a school of nearly 1100 students, our staff remains committed to doing whatever it takes to care for the hearts and educate the minds of the entire Evergreen family. Aside from utilizing high engagement strategies to ensure that every student is accountable and engaged in every classroom at all times, this may also involve things like alternative schedules, study help, special classes, or simply providing a safe place for students to do their homework.

We believe we provide a rigorous curriculum that challenges our students to push themselves in an atmosphere where students learn to solve their problems and to rise to a challenge and shine.

In addition, at Evergreen we try to focus on the whole student day. Whether students compete for us on the athletic field, entertain us on the stage during one of our drama productions, perform for us in our band or choir, serve us through our ASB, or engage themselves in the myriad other activities we offer here at Evergreen, Evergreen students are encouraged to pour their heart and soul into creating a rich life that does not end when the books close.

Communication is the key to success in a school; it is the foundation of a solid family environment. Involving parents in the daily learning process is one of the most effective ways to improve students' performance, so we invite parents, community members, and other educators to join the Evergreen family and become partners in the learning process. Feel free to email us, call us or visit us here again so that we can show you how brightly Evergreen students shine.
