Welcome to our school
Dear Garfield Families:
Welcome back to school! I am very excited about the school year that is about to begin. Whether you will be dropping your child off at Garfield Elementary for the first day of kindergarten or you are a veteran parent of a school-aged child, the start of a new school year is always a time filled with excitement. Our focus will be on providing each child with new challenges that will result in a rewarding school experience. We want your child to be happy and successful at Garfield and believe you play a key role. That role is to continually show interest in and to support your child. A child who knows his or her family is interested in and supports the school program will almost always have fewer problems in school and will enjoy greater success.
I continue to be impressed with the dedicated staff and families in this community. Garfield is truly a school where students are supported and encouraged to grow academically, socially and emotionally. I am fortunate to be a part of this high-quality learning community, and I speak on behalf of the entire staff when I say we are excited to have each of you as part of our school community. It takes all of us to help each and every child reach his/her potential, and we look forward to sharing in your child's learning experiences.
Working together we will have a rewarding year filled with learning, lifelong relationships and the joys of success and accomplishment. I look forward to meeting each of you, and to working with you and your children throughout the year.

Directions to Garfield Elementary School
Northbound: From I-5, take exit 193 (Pacific Avenue) and turn left. Turn right at Pine and then follow Pine to 23rd.
Southbound: From I-5, take exit 194. Turn right at Everett Avenue and then another right, this time at Walnut. Take a left at 23rd and follow that street to Pine. |

Our Garfield school community has a shared responsibility to increase academic achievement and develop attitudes of mutual respect and cooperation. Our goal is to enhance the learning environment to increase achievement in math, science and language arts for all students.
