EHS Community:
Every November, our school community led by the students in our Leadership classes and their teacher, Ms. Chaffee, take on the task of feeding families in our community at Thanksgiving. This month-long event is truly amazing. Every classroom adopts one or two families and provides them with enough food for two weeks. This year we will be feeding about 85 families in our community. Even with all that, last year we collected enough extra food to fill a panel truck and two pick up trucks with food for our local food banks. The morning of delivery is an awesome sight to behold. It is so wonderful to see the result of out students'hard work. I know that many of you volunteer to be a driver for your student's class. Thank you for that gift of your time!
Right now students are collecting non-perishable items and cash donations. The cash is used to buy perishable items. Any extra money goes for Safeway gift cards which can only be used for food. One of the challenges we have each year is buying enough turkeys. If you can donate a turkey, please contact Casey Chaffee at cchaffee@everettsd.org. These are the most expensive perishable item. When we get donations of turkeys, more money can be spent on things like milk, eggs, vegetables and fruit.
Thank you so much for donating to this cause. There are so many families in need right now in our community.
