Evergreen Receives
2010 & 2011 Washington Achievement Award

Dear Evergreen Parents/Guardians:

I am happy to report that Evergreen Middle School is the recipient of a 2011 Washington Achievement Award. This is an extraordinary accomplishment and is a direct reflection of the hard work of our students, the dedication of our teachers, and the support and guidance of our parents.

The Washington Achievement Awards, sponsored by the Washington State Board of Education and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, celebrates the state's top-performing schools and recognizes achievement in multiple categories. This highly selective award is based on our school's performance on the Achievement Index, a comprehensive measurement of Washington schools'performance over time. The selection process for a Washington Achievement Award is very rigorous, with awards granted to the top 5% of schools in the state in each category.

The Washington Achievement Award is given to elementary, middle, high, and comprehensive schools in eight different categories: overall excellence, overall excellence for gifted programs, and special recognition for outstanding achievement in the following subcategories: language arts, math, science, extended graduation rate, improvement, and closing the achievement gap. Evergreen has earned an award in the area of Overall Excellence.

Each of us at Evergreen takes great pride in this accomplishment. This is a moment to celebrate as a school community and I thank you for the support you give to your students and to our school that made earning this award possible. This accomplishment invigorates our work to ensure each student at Evergreen learns to high standards, is successful and well prepared for their life after Evergreen.
